First Day Of Practice Washed Out

Indianapolis-34 drivers were fixed on the weather radar as the sun came up over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this morning. To their disappointment, the forecast was The first practice session for the 107th Indy 500 was scrubbed due to rain across the Indianapolis area.

The 9:00 a.m. ET to 11:15 a.m. morning session was canceled after the track was lost due to downpours. After a break from the showers, the track began drying and was in shape for the 2:15 p.m. session. Shortly after teams rolled their cars to pit lane at 1:50 p.m., the rain returned.

After waiting more than two hours, IndyCar officials decided at 4:10 p.m. to call it a day.

The second day of practice was rained out last year.

The weather for the remaining week looks clear, and on-track activity is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. There will be a five minute installation session and then RC Enerson will take part in the Rookie Orientation Program.
